LAGOS, Nigeria – Five soccer talents spotted in Internally Displaced Persons(IDP) camp in Nigeria have been granted visa by the United States Embassy in Nigeria to travel to the United States.

Those selected by the embassy are Rosemary James, Wisdom Abeh, John Dawa, Blessing Ayila, and Lorliam Terhemba Theophilus.

They will participate in a U.S. State Department sponsored Sports Visitor program taking place from August 1-19, 2019.

The programme according to the embassy will improve their soccer playing skills, while enhancing their English language, academic and leadership skills through their interaction with American peers.

Among the five participants are three male and two females. They were selected from IDP camps in Benue and Abuja.

“Besides attending a football camp, the participants will also receive English language and other classroom instruction to improve their prospects for academic success”, the embassy said in a statement.
