ISAWO, Ikorodu, Lagos, Nigeria- Residents of Ikorodu are not finding things easy, just few days after the commencement of the rainy season. The worst came yesterday moments after the heavy downpour on Thursday night which has paralysed commercial activities in the Ikorodu axis of Lagos State.
Mostly affected are people living in Isawo. Residents are currently on the run, relocating massively from the area as flood has taken over their residence, rendering even the road unpassable.
Our correspondent who visited the area said the situation has been worsened by construction work in the area. We gathered that the contractor, Hitech has abandoned the road construction scheduled to be completed by July 2018, making the road a nightmare for motorists.
Already transport fares have gone up five times the usual fare. From N100 to N400 and N500 for a journey of nine kilometres for buses and motorcycles respectively
Residents are in sorestraights and they are calling on the executive governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to urgently come to their rescue to prevent the area from being decimated by the flood.
