IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – Former chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association(NBA), Mr. Adesina Ogunlana and Yinka Farounbi and Akapo Aderinola were today temporarily released on bail.
They were temporarily released on bail by Justice Mojisola Dada of a Special Offences Court, sitting in Ikeja, Lagos.
They were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC). Ogunlana was arraigned on 30 count charges that bother on fraud and stealing.
The two others, Yinka Farounbi and Akapo Aderinola were arraigned on lesser charges.
Shortly after their arraignment, lawyer to the defendants argued for bail which was vehimently opposed by the EFCC.
But Justice Mojisola Dada observed that the defendants but one were ex-officio members of Ikeja Bar and that they would not jump bail having made themselves available for arraignment on two occasion. He ordered they deposit copies of their international passports with the registrar and granted them temporary release pending commencement of trial and adjourned the matter to June 3rd, 2019 for hearing.
