LAGOS, Nigeria – Lere Olayinka, aide to former governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose has smocked the Federal Government for taking a loan of $ 1 billion to build 360 megawatts power plant.
The $ 1 billion was approved by the Federal Executive Council for the Gurara Hydro Power Project II by the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation
According to Minister of Water Resources, Alhaji Suleiman Adamu, the Gurara II power project has the potential of 360 Megawatts of electricity.
But reacting to the development, Olayinka said the Federal Government will spend $1 billion for 360 megawatts while Akwa Ibom State has spent just $400 million to build 564 megawatts power plant.
“Akwa Ibom built a 564MW power plant for $400 Million. FG takes loan of $1 Billion to build a 360MW power station”, he said.
