OWERRI, Imo State – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) has arrested former governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and his wife, Nkechi Okorocha.
According to Lere Olayinka, aide of former governor of Ekiti State, officials of the commission arrested the former governor in Ogboko. Also arrested are Nkechi Okorocha, Gerald Okorocha and Okey Okorocha.
“EFCC storms Ogboko, arrests Rochas Okorocha, wife EFCC stormed Ogboko arrested Rochas Okorocha, his wife Nkechi Okorocha, Gerald Okorocha and Okey Okorocha. The commission also sealed his Eastern Palm University Ogboko”, he said.
Okorocha fell out of favour with the powers that be when his party, the All Progressive Congress(APC) refused to give the governorship ticket to his candidate and brother-in-law, Uche Nwosu.
At his urging, Uche Nwosu moved to the Action Alliance Congress(AAC). He thereafter used states resources to support his brother-in-law, the adopted governorship candidate of AAC.
His support for AAC is seen to be the reason the All Progressive Congress(APC) failed to win the governorship ticket in Imo State.
