3 U. S Marines killed in combat operation in Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan – The Department of Defense(DoD) has announced the passage of three Marines, killed in the ongoing Operation Resolute Support(ORS) in Afganistan. In a statement, the DOD said the affected Marines were supporting the ORS.

Resolute Support Mission or Operation Resolute Support is a NATO-led train, advise and assist mission consisting of over 13,000 troops in Afghanistan, which began on January 1, 2015. It has Gen. Austin S Miller as Commander(US Army), while Deputy Commander is Lieutenant General Salvatore Camporeale, Italian Army.

According to the DOD, the affected officers are Cpl. Robert A. Hendriks, 25, of Locust Valley, New York, Sgt. Benjamin S. Hines, 31, of York, Pennsylvania and Staff Sgt. Christopher K.A. Slutman, 43, of Newark, Delaware.

They were assigned to 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve.

The following Marines died April 8 while conducting combat operations in Parwan province, Afghanistan.

Cpl. Robert A. Hendriks, 25, of Locust Valley, New York.

Sgt. Benjamin S. Hines, 31, of York, Pennsylvania.

Staff Sgt. Christopher K.A. Slutman, 43, of Newark, Delaware.

These Marines were assigned to 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve.
