Says we’ ll void results from units delibrately not deploying it

ABUJA, Nigeria – The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has said the use of Smartcard reader is compulsory for the governorship and House of Assembly election scheduled for March 9, 2019, just as it was compulsory for the Presidential and National Assembly election held February 23, 2019.

National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Festus Okoye said the use of Smartcard reader is not only mandatory but its delibrate non-use attracts the sanction of possible prosecution of erring officials in accordance with the INEC regulations and guidelines for the conduct of elections.

“This is in addition to the voiding of any results emanating from such units or areas as was done in the Presidential election and National Assembly elections of February 23, 2019”, he said.
