LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Building Control Agency(LASBCA) has identified 149 defective building in Lagos State which ought to be pulled down so as to avoid them collapsing on innocent Nigerians.

Out of the 149 defective structures identified, only 40 have been demolised by the Lagos State Government while 38 others were earmarked for demolition in Lagos State.

These were the revelation made available by the Commissioner for Physical Planning & Urban Development, Mr. Rotimi Ogunleye, at press conference in 2018.

The commissioner warned that the state government would not hesitate to pull down any distressed structure identified in the state to avoid the loss of lives and property.

According to Ogunleye, some of the structures were distressed while others were illegally built on setbacks, drainage channels and incompatible uses which resulted in public complaints and disaffection. He said there was reduction in incidents of buidling collapse in the year 2018.
