ABUJA, Nigeria – The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has postponed the supplementary elections scheduled to run alongside the governorship and house of assembly elections in Adamawa State.

In a statement National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Festus Okoye said the National Assembly election in Adamawa will now hold on Saturday, March 23, 2019.

He said INEC was forced to shift the election following the death of Hon. Adamu Kwanate, member, APC representing Nassarawo-Binyeri State Constituency, May Belwa LGA, in Adamawa State House of Assembly.

He also reported that earlier today, fire raised down INEC office in Ibesikpo Asuntan Local Government of Akwa Ibom state, during which 198 smart card readers were destroyed.
