LAGOS, Nigeria – Thugs allegedly loyal to the All Progressive Congress(APC) today disrupted the electoral process in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, when they invaded the area and took away ballot boxes and other sensitive INEC materials.
The thugs threw the area into confusion with some of the electorates running for dear life, even with policemen on dutry not able to curtail the hoodlums.
Ajeromi-Ifelodun is usually a strong hold of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Lagos. We gathered that the thugs visited Units O44, 045, 046 at 12.30 PM when voting was still in progress. According to INEC guidelines, voting should stop by 2 pm.
We were reliably informed that some of the materials were smatched into pieces by the thugs when they invaded the area this afternoon. It is not clear if the rampaging thugs were apprehended by policemen.
Generally, the elections were peaceful in most of the areas monitored. In Ojodu, Lagos and Ojodu-Abiodun, Ogun State, the election was peaceful. The electorates conducted themselves in an orderly manner without any incident. It was during the collation period, that misunderstanding arouse as a resulf of voided votes.
In most of the areas visited, the APC was leading in most of the results declared in the units visited.
