Court convicts AVM Omenyi in N136 million arms deal

ABUJA, Nigeria – Justice Dimgba Igwe of a Federal High Court sitting in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja today convicted Air Vice Marshall Tony Omenyi for N136 million fraud.

He was sentenced to 7 years for each of the three count charge proferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC). The sentence is to run concurrently, meaning he will spend 7 years in jail.

The EFCC in 2016 accused Omenyi of receiving the sum of N24.8m, N61.5m and N50m between August 16 and 23, 2014, through the FCMB Bank account of Huzee Nigeria Ltd, Sky Experts Nigeria Ltd, which are contractors to AETS.
