ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – Abia state indigene in Anambra have commended the two Abia governorship  candidates in the forthcoming general election in Abia, Dr. Alex Otti of the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA and  the candidate of All Progressive Congress(APC) Dr. Uche Ogah for their commitment and loyalty to serve Abians.

The chairman of Abia indigene in Anambra state, comrade Damian Ogudike said in a statement in Awka that they were proud of the duo for showing up at the town hall meeting and their display  of capacity while addressing them recently in Onitsha, Anambra state business hub.

According to him, their visit provided, Abians in Anambra State, the opportunity to know those who aspire to govern the God’s own in the next four years.

“Abia Indigenes Forum had invited gubernatorial candidates in Abia state, to Onitsha Recreation club, Housing estate to address them on their plans to move the state forward and the dou talked to us on many state demanding issues.

He said the gathering was not to endorse any candidate or to castigate any political office seeker, but to interact with the candidates and to know their manifestos and how they tend to move Abia state forward. According to him, if the Abians get the right leaders in the Abia , the state   will be in the right step and things will work out for good.

“If we elect capable, competent, sincere, visionary and quintessential leaders, our state will not just be the number one in the country in alphabetical order but will also be number one in exceptional developments”, he stated.

According to him, the gubernatorial candidates of APGA, Dr Alex Otti promised to revamp   the security operatives in the state, working with the local vigilante groups. Otti represented by his Special Assistant, Chief Berth Okeomah, said that his government would deal with miracle centres and hand over schools to the missionaries like it was done in Anambra state by former Governor of the state, Mr. Peter Obi.

“Everybody must be interested in what happens in his environment and you may know that Otti attracted the Isialangwa/Ekot road and has capacity to penetrate anywhere.  If you can recall, Otti brought so many bank branches to the state when he was in the banking sector” he
said.

The gubernatorial candidate of APC, Dr Sampson Uche Ogah in his own assured Abians  that he would introduce free, compulsory public education in both primary and secondary  schools and review the state school curriculum .

Ogah represented by his running mate, Hon Martins  Azubuike promised to be paying teachers’ salaries   as at and when due, because teachers are engine room for any meaningful  development.

According to him, Ogah said , he would use technology to fight crime, invest  in technological equipments so that Abians will sleep with their two eyes closed.

“Security trust fund will be established, Israeli technology will be employed secure Abia state” Ogah said.According to the statement, Ogah also assured that he will award contracts only to those with fund and experiences.

He further assured of the diversification of the economy through agriculture and development of mineral resources, attracting investors and reviving the moribund industries in the state to create job forthe teaming youths. The chairman however, expressed dissatisfaction over   Governor Okezie Ikpeazu refusal to honour the invitation sent to him by Abians in Anambra state .
