RUSSIA – The American government has called on authority in Russia to live up to its international obligations, commitments and its own constitution by launching immediate investigation into cases of human rights abuses.
The U.S made the call as 2 members of the LGBTI out of 40 in Russian cell die as a result of torture.
“We also urge the Russian Federation to ensure that the rights of all human rights defenders are fully respected in Chechnya, and those illegally detained, including Oyub Titiev, be immediately released”, the U.S said in a statement by Deputy Spokesperson, Robert Palladino, of the Department of State.
“We call on Russia to live up to its international obligations and commitments and its own constitution, and launch an immediate investigation into these human rights abuses. We also urge the Russian Federation to ensure that the rights of all human rights defenders are fully respected in Chechnya, and those illegally detained, including Oyub Titiev, be immediately released”, he said.
