UNITED STATES – Former lawyer to President Donald Trump of the United State has been sentenced to three years imprisonment.
He was sentenced to a total of 38 months by US District Judge William Pauley III. He is to serve the sentence concurrently.
Pauley also ordered Cohen to pay $1.39 million in restitution, $500,000 in forfeiture and $100,000 in fines and must report to prison March 6.
In August, Cohen pleaded guilty in a Manhattan US attorney’s case to two campaign-finance violations, involving payments to two women during the campaign to remain silent after alleged sexual encounter with Donald Trump. The two women are adult-film star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal.
Stormy Daniels had insisted that she had sex with Trump despite spirited denial. Cohen attributed his decision to tell lies to blind loyalty to Trump and apologised for his attitude.
