PORT HARCOURT, Rivers State, Nigeria – With 1, 598 votes, former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar on Sunday emerged the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP). He and party flagbearers of over 90 other parties will now slug it out with President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 2019 general election.

Atiku defeated 11 other presdential aspirant in the party. Other PDP members who contested to be flagbearer are former governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang, Datti Ahmed, former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, Alhaji Taminu Turaki, Attahiru Bafarawa, Ahmed Makarfi, former governor of Kano State, Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso, President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, Sokoto State Governor and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

“PDP, thank you for choosing me. This is a victory for all of us. The task to get Nigeria working again starts now. #NigeriaWillWork #LetsGetNigeriaWorkingAgain”, Atiku said in his victory speech in Port Harcout.
