LAGOS, Nigeria – Lagos and Ibadan stood still for Dr. Taiwo and Chief Folasade Afolabi who entertained dignitaries as Olayinka Afolabi tied the nuptial knot with his heartthrob, Abisola Omisade. In life, three days remain unforgettable, you may not be matured enough to witness the joy of birth but the first major day of celebration remains the wedding day, followed by the day you bring forth your first offspring.
The third celebration is the testimony of your role as parents. Saturday, The 15th Of September, 2018 was such a day for Dr. Taiwo Afolabi and his amiable wife Chief Folashade Afolabi. Abisola Olufunke Omisade is the beautiful daughter of prince Olayinka and Mrs. Omoyajowo Omisade of Ile-Ife in Osun State.
The father of the groom, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, (MON), is a Nigerian business magnate and lawyer. He is the founder and C.E.O Of SIFAX Group, a conglomerate that deals in shipping, oil and gas, while the bride’s father, Prince Olayinka Omisade is a descendant of royalty in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The groom, Olayinka Mayor Afolabi,is a graduate of accounting from Coventry University, U.K,. chip of the old block, he presently works at SIFAX Marine Services, as Director and Business Development Manager. He also owns The Grill outlet located in Ikoyi Lagos. His Heartthrob Abisola Omisade who Just relocated from the U.K is a graduate from one of the Ivy League Schools in the U.K. and human resources professional.
The couple love story began when they met, at the grooms sister’s grand ball event in U.K, and that chance meeting was the beginning of a romantic tale that has led to a new beginning. After the engagement and traditional marriage rights in Ibadan,activities shifted to Lagos for the church wedding.
The Church Wedding which was held at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos had in attendance, the Ooni Of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, First Lady Of Ogun State, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Health, Mrs. Foluke Bello, and many other important personalities.
The church service kicked off with the father of the bride walking the bridal procession down the aisle. The wedding exhortation was delivered by one of the officiating ministers. This was followed by marriage vows by Abisola Omisade and Olayinka Afolabi.
Hyminal renditions was led by the choir, after which there was exchange of rings between the couple, which serves as a symbol of their unending love for each other. The Bible reading was taken from Ephesians chapter 5 vs 21-33.
In the sermon, officiating minister charged the couple on the true essence of marriage. He said marriage is beyond the day of the wedding, saying that God is the initiator of marriage. “Therefore God should be the centre of the union”, he said and urged the couple to cleave and understand each other and to respect, love and care for each other. Both parents took turns as well as the officiating ministers to pray for the couple and asked God’s blessing on the union.
Proceedings shifted afterwards to the exquisitely decorated Harbor Point, Wilmot Road, Victoria Island Lagos. The ambiance and aura of love , joy and expectations was enough to invoke a sweet feeling of nostalgia for those who have already treaded this path and a feeling of hope and eager anticipation for those waiting to tread this major path.

Performances from top notch Nigerian musicians like, 2baba, Mayorkun, and Reekado Banks left the audience in awe and salivating for more. Friends of the groom’s brother Damilola Afolabi, popularly known as L.A.X one of Nigeria’s foremost recording artiste were also on hand to celebrate with one of their own. For sure, this is one wedding the Lagos high society will talk about for some time to come.
