LAGOS, Nigeria – The All Progressive Congress(APC) has shifted the primaries scheduled to hold today throughout all the wards in Lagos State to Monday, October 2, 2018. We gathered that the APC postponed the primaries due to logistic reasons.
Only two candidates will vie for the APC ticket on Monday, since the third candidate, Obafemi Hamzat has stepped down for Babajide Sanwo-olu, candidate of the Mandate Group, seen as the preferred candidate of the party.
Those contesting for the APC ticket are Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode and Babajide Sanwo-olu.
Besides, 36 members out of the 40 member Lagos State House of Assembly have also endorsed Sanwo-olu ahead of the primaries just few days after Conference 57, (chairmen of all the 57 local councils) in Lagos endorsed Sanwo-olu for governor of Lagos State.
The Iyaloja of Lagos State, Mrs. Folasade Tinubu-Ojo has also endorsed the candidate of Sanwo-olu ahead of the primaries even as the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has said he is capable of winning the ticket of the APC in Lagos.
