LAGOS, Nigeria – At least three suspected members of the Eiye Confratenity have been arrested in Lagos after a clash of cultists at Addo area of the state. Among those arrested are John Atie Wiliam, Ismail Abdulkarrem and Sodiq Musiliu. Briefing newsmen in Lagos, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edgal Imohimi said they were arrested at the scene.
“On the 21/8/2018 at about 0800hrs, information was received from a member of the public that rival cult members were fighting and damaging properties at Addo area of Lagos. On receipt of the information, operatives from Langbasa Police Station and FSARS Ikeja, swiftly mobilized to the scene. On sighting the operatives, the warring cultists scampered to different directions to avoid Police arrest but luck ran against one John Atie Wiliam ‘m’, Ismail Abdulkarrem ‘m’ and Sodiq Musiliu ‘m’ as they were arrested at the scene. They were immediately searched, during which six (6) live cartridges, two (2) wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and assorted charms were recovered from them”, he said.
He explained that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to be members of Eiye Confraternity and that their mission on that fateful day was to attack members of Aiye Confraternity as a revenge for the killing of their member, late Oluwasegun Samuel ‘m’ who was murdered sometime in 2017 by members of the aforementioned rival cult group.
“They have given the Police a list of their members and promised to lead the operatives in their arrests”, he said, adding that the Command is unrelenting in its fight against cultism and called for cooperation of the members of the public in this regard.
