NAN STAFF AGREE TO SUSPEND STRIKE
NAN workers embark on strike to press home demand for better welfare package

LAGOS, Nigeria – Staff of the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) on 3-day warning strike have agreed to suspend the strike and go back to work. The NAN staff agreed to suspend the strike after management agreed to meet up with their demands.




Among the agreement is that the draft copy of condition of service sent to the ministry of information in September 2017 will be followed-up by the management to ensure speedy approval, and that the union will also join in doing follow up.

Besides, it was agreed that transport allowances will be paid each time subvention is received after mandatory recurrent expenditure have been paid and that the request of promotion arrears for 2012 had been submitted to the office of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) for payment while that of the 2014, 2017 had been submitted to the budget office.

Parties also agreed that the shortfall for the year 2014, 2015, 2016 had been submitted to the office of the Accountant General for attention and payment and that the management will improve in the training of staff and that the agency is not owing driver’s overtime allowances but management shall pay the new claims recently presented.

It was also agreed that the revalidated repatriation allowances had been paid to some foreign correspondents and that those who had received instalment payment will get the balance and that the balance of repatriation allowances which was approved in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 shall be paid

Management also agreed that there will be no victimization of staff who participated in the peaceful Industrial strike
