HUSBAND SAYS WOMAN HAS MAGUN

LAGOS, Nigeria – A business tycoon, Ogundipe Monsurat today urged an Agege Customary Court to dissolve her 14-year old marriage. She told the court that her husband, Sheriff Ogundipe no longer loves her and has not been having sex with her. The petitioner, who resides at Ijaiye Street, Abule Egba area of Lagos, told the court that she was no longer interested in the union.
“My husband is irresponsible; he is a chronic liar and has denied me of sex for over two years.He is a drunkard, who drinks to stupor and misbehaves; and this usually leads to shame and serious embarrassment for me and our children. I can no longer bear the emotional and verbal torture I suffer in his hands.
“My husband is fond of saying he is not going to use his mouth to send me packing but when l get tired, l will move out without being told.
The mother of three said that her husband does not beat her but the torture and emotional abuse she goes through is unbearable.
“My husband frustrates my efforts and brings in different women to our matrimonial home without any form of respect for me,” she said. She alleged that it is always war to collect the children’s feeding allowance from her husband.
The petitioner told the court that her husband once confessed to having an extramarital affair with another woman who kept calling and swearing on the phone.
“All my husband does is to drink and engage in extra marital affairs.He is not caring and lacks respect for the institution of marriage; please separate us, I can no longer live with him,” she pleaded.
The respondent, an immigration officer with the Nigeria Immigration Service, however, denied the claims against him but admitted not having any sexual relationship with with. He urged the court to dissolve his marriage, claiming that he no longer loves his wife.
“I try my best to cater for my family but my wife is never satisfied,” he said. The respondent, who resides at Nigeria Immigration Service Quarters at Muritala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, described the petitioner as arrogant and not submissive.
He admitted that he was also flirting with other women because his wife refused to have sex with him; since my body is not firewood, l decided to go out,”
Sherif told the court that his wife is disrespectful and keeps bad friends who misleads her.
“She wants to usurp my authority in the house; has no iota of respect for me. Trouble started when my younger sister came to stay with us, my wife declared that she will not have sex with me untill my sister leaves the house. For six months, my wife refused to have sex with me which led to my drinking habit and since then, l lost interest in her,”
He said that this made him loss any form of emotional attachment for her.The respondent alleged that his wife is promiscuous; she receives strange calls and text messages from different men at odd hours. He alleged that one of his wife’s concubines placed a thunderbolt popularly known in the Yoruba parlance as “Magun”.
“I later discovered through prayers or else my life would have been lost,” The respondent told the court that his wife wants to kill him with all her escapades and atrocities and prayed the court to dissolve the marriage. I don’t trust my wife and no longer love her, l therefore urge the court to dissolve the marriage so that we can go our separate ways.
The court’s president, Mrs Ibironke Elabor, who advised the estranged couple to keep the peace, adjourned the case untill July 26 for Alternative Dispute Resolution. (NAN)
