EKITI, Nigeria – A governorship aspirant under the auspices of the All Progressive Congress(APC) and former member of House of Representatives, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele has survived an assassination just few days to the governorship election in the state.
He survived a shotout, while one unidentified person died in the incident.
Opeyemi was shot at the APC secretariat even as reports had it that Minister of Solid Minerals, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, who is the now the APC flagbearer in the state had invaded the state with F-SARS in a show of intimidation.
He was shot during a reception organized for the governorship candidate of the party, Dr. Kayode Fayemi at the APC secretariat. Bamidele, was one of the two shot by policement deployed to ensure peace in Ekiti State, ahead of the election.
Mr. Bamidele, a former Commissioner for Information in Lagos State has been rushed to an unknown hospital for treatment.
