LAGOS, Nigeria – Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has said that the greatest regret former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has was his failure to prosecute and jail President Muhammadu Buhari for allegedly looting the Petroleum Trust Fund, PTF. President Buhari served as Chairman of PTF under former late military dictator, Gen. Sani Abacha. The agency executed projects in Nigeria, including roads and infrastructures across institutions of higher learning.

But the former minister has insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari is corrupt and that he looted billions of US Dollars while he was chairman of PTF and a report submitted to Obasanjo in Post-Abacha era about activities of PTF indicted Buhari.

According to him, Obasanjo summoned Buhari during which the report was laid bare before him and that the President begged Obasanjo like a baby and Obasanjo had no choice but to let him go unpunished.

“The greatest mistake that OBJ made was not to prosecute and jail @MBuhari for looting PTF funds.I saw the report and it was shocking.Billions of dollars had vanished. OBJ summoned him and showed him the damning report.Buhari begged like a baby.Sadly OBJ let him off the hook”, FKK said on tweeter.

FKK reacted following reports of President Buhari raising alarm that former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo lavished $16 billion under his watch as president without any result.

President spoke when he received leaders of the Buhari Support Organisation, BSO, the base of his political support before his emergence as a presidential candidate in 2014.

Buhari said between 1999 and 2014 oil prices soared to about $135, he said he had restrained himself and his aides several times in the past from responding to various accusations of non-performance and clannishness levelled against him by Obasanjo.

According to him, the debt incurred from the $16 billion spent by Obasanjo on power without any output is now being paid by his administration. Buhari added that in Nigeria’s history, his government had made the highest capital allocations in the 2017 and 2018 budgets.
