LAGOS – Nigerian youths have continued to take President Muhammadu Buhari on the statement credited to him while he was in London, where in he said that Nigerian youths are lazy people who want to sit and do nothing, get housing and healthcare. In his reply to the president, a social critic, J. J Omojuwa said President Muhammadu Buhari goofed by alleging that Nigerian youths are lazy.

“About the economy, we have a very young population, our population is estimated conservatively to be 180 million. This is a very conservative one. More than 60 percent of the population is below 30, a lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria is an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education free.” Buhari said at the Commonwealth Business Forum in Westminster, London.

According to Omojuwa, it is impossible for one to believe that the president would make such a general statement about his own citizens without isolating the teeming youths who are hardworking.

He was not alone. For J. J Omojuwa, President Buhari GOOFED on his statements on Nigerian Youths in London.
Omokri justified his criticism by putting forward photographs of Nigerian youths taking destiny into their hands by storming the streets in the hot sun and rain to sell to be able to make a living.

“It is actually impossible for one to believe a president would say that about his own citizens, especially without isolating those who work hard and are helping the country shine across different disciplines’, Omojuwa said.

He was not alone. For Reno Omokri former aide to immediate past president of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, it is foolhardy for the President to abuse the youths when he has not been able to complete any project in three years.

“Here are some of the millions of Nigerian youths hawking from morning to night under hot African sun, yet their lazy President who hasn’t initiated, started and completed any project in 3 years called them, lazy people who want to “sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare”, he said.
