IYALLA, Ikeja, Lagos – Nigerian Union of Journalists(NUJ), Lagos State council has donated a Toyota Hiace bus to Journalists International School(JIS), Nursery and Primary School, Arepo as part of its social investment in the school.
The bus was presented by Chairman of NUJ, Dr. Qasim Akinreti at the monthly congress of the union in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos to Chairman of Journalists Estate Phase(1), Mrs. Olufunke Fadugba. The school located at Journalists Estate, Arepo, Phase (1) has been in existence for years. While receiving the vehicle, Fadugba commended NUJ, stressing that the gesture marks formal investment of NUJ into the school for the first time.
She said those running the estate will work out a ratio of investient by NUJ so that the union will continue to benefit even when the present executive are no longer there. He said the school and will in September this year admit students into JSS 1 and called on parents to bring in their chldren and wards.
In his remarks, Former Secretary of NUJ, Mr. Syvia Okereke, a resident of the estate was full of appreciation for the NUJ Chairman. “I appreciate this chairman for what he has done. He is a good man. He combined the old body of the vehicle with the engine of the former bus that had accident into what we now have as bus”, he said. He appreciated the chairman for the bold steps and promised that the those runing the school not to disappoint him. “I assure you that will not disappoint you”, he said.
