LAGOS, Nigeria – Former Minister of Information and Chairman National Sports Commission, Chief Alex Akinyele is today marking his 80th birthday. The former minister who has kept low profile for a while took to the social media to share this information with his followers.




“It is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our eyes. I am 80 today. I thank God Almighty for my life and I thank wonderful family members and friends like you”, he said on Facebook.

He is clocking 80 just few days after he was honoured with King Service Award by the University of Lagos for his outstanding impact and genuine commitments to the Kingd of God by the International Bible Academy.

“The month of April is my month, today at the University of Lagos, I was honoured with ‘Kingdom Service Award’ in recognition for my outstanding impact and genuine commitments to the Kingdom of God by the International Bible Academy”, he said, stressing that though he was not there to collect my award, he was represented by his god-son, Dr Raphael.

He said Dr. Raphael delivered the award to him at home. “I thank the organizers for remembering me in my month of birth, may God Almighty remember you all in Jesus name Amen”, he said.
