JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – The African National Congress(ANC) has released the funeral programmes for the late Mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela. In a statement, the party said it will continue to celebrate and honour the life of an outstanding leader of “our movement and Mother of the Nation, Mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela”.
“Over the next few days, the ANC will hold various provincial memorial services in seven (7) provinces and one (1) National memorial service in Mbizana, Eastern Cape. Ours is not only to eulogize Mama Winnie but to draw the much needed lessons from such a selfless, courageous and ever patriotic leader”, the party said.
The programmes will kick off on Monday, 09 April 2018 at the Jack Botes Hall, Polokwane in Limpopo province. The gathering will be addressed by Deputy President, Comrade David Mabuza at 13 hours. There will be another event at Brandfort Majwe Masweu Hall, Lejweleputswa Region, Free State province at 14 hours to be addressed by National Chairperson, Comrade Gwede Mantashe.
There will be another event at Steve Tshwete Banquet Hall, Middleburg, Nkangala Region, North West Province at 14 hours to be addressed by Treasurer General, Comrade Paul Mashatile.
At 15 hours, the programme will shift to University of Johannesburg, Soweto Campus in Gauteng Province to be addressed by Secretary General, Comrade Elias “Ace” Magashule. At 09 hours, there will be a programme at Mahikeng Civic Centre, Northern Cape to be addressed by ANC NEC Member, Comrade Obed Bapela. By 12 hours, a programme in honour of the departed will take place at Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre.
On Tuesday, 10 April 2018, there will be National memorial service in the Eastern Cape at the Mphuthumi Mafumbatha Stadium, Mbizana, Alfred Nzo Region. The programme scheduled for 11H00 will be addressed by President, Comrade Cyril Ramaphosa.
OnThursday, 12 April 2018, funeral service will hold at the Durban City Hall, KwaZulu-Natal Province at 15 hours to be addressed by Deputy President, Comrade David Mabuza.
