LAGOS, Nigeria – Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has queried President Muhammadu Buhari for his skewed anticorruption war. In an interview with German international broadcasting outlet, Deutsche Welle, Obasanjo said the President’s anticorruption was has been poluted by corrupt individuals in is inner circle.
According to him, there is no point fighting corruption, when the President has corruption starring at him in the nose.
According to him, the president could do better on how he goes about the war on corruption. Asked how he would have handled the situation, if he was president, he said:
“I would make sure people in charge of anti-corruption institutions are people of integrity. There is no point in fighting corruption beyond you and you have corruption on your nose.”
Obasanjo said his Coalition for Nigeria movement (CNM), will truly help Nigerians to move away from the old order of politics and into a new age where the interests of the citizens are truly represented. But that he will withdraw from it if it metamorphoses into a full political party.
“It (Coalition for Nigeria) is not an old wine in a new bottle, but a new wine in a new bottle. I will not stand in the way of that movement if it decides to become a party. But in that case, I will withdraw.”
