UMUAHIA, Nigeria – Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia has expressed its heartfelt condolences to Premier league rivals, Plateau United of Jos over the sudden demise of a member of their medical team, Damian Kuptong.
Kuptong, United’s Physiotherapist, gave up the ghost in the early hours of yesterday in an undisclosed hospital in Enugu where he was rushed to receive medical attention after complaining of an ailment.
Plateau United had left Umuahia for Enugu immediately after their NPFL week three encounter with Abia Warriors last Sunday and the Physio reportedly fell ill that night in Enugu.
In a statement he issued on behalf of the club, Abia Warriors Chairman, Chief Emeka Inyama described the incident as unfortunate and urged Plateau United to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
” Our hearts go to Plateau United at this point in time and I urge theclub to bear this loss with fortitude while I pray that this type of incident will not visit any of our teams again”, the Chairman said.
