LAGOS, Nigeria – A cashier with Wema Bank Plc, Ishola Adeyemi has been arraigned before a magistrate court sitting in Igbosere, Lagos for allegedly stealing N650 million from the bank.




He was arraigned on two count charge of stealing and forgery, contrary to sections 287, 365 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Adeyemi, 30, who resides at Catholic Church Road, Torikoh, Badagry is accused of converting N625 million from a customer’s account to his personal use.

According to the prosecutor, Sgt. Edward Abiodun, the accused and his accomplices still at large, forged the signature of the customer, Mr. Michael Asanba, and stole the sum of N625 million from his Wema Bank account in October.

The Magistrate, Mrs. O. O. Kusanu, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The case has been adjourned to January 30, 2018.
