YENEGOA, Nigeria – The Governor of Bayelsa State, Henry Seriake Dickson is set to give a unique Christmas gift to the people of Aleibiri, Ofoni, Ayamasa Angalabiri and other neighbouring communities along the historical Sagbama-Ekeremor Road.
Dickson will on Monday drive in a convoy of small cars to Aleibiri, Ofoni, Ayamasa Angalabiri and other neighboring communities along the historical Sagbama-Ekeremor Road.
The governor, during his historical ride to Ofoni community in October promised that he would drive in a convoy of small cars to Aleibiri in Ekeremor Local Government òf the state on December 25 2017 to celebrate Christmas with the members of the communities.
Governor Dickson said that the planned visit to Aleibiri and the neighboring communities along the Sagbama-Ekeremor Road was in fulfillment of a promise he made to the people of the area on October 14, 2017 that cars would be driven for the first time in over 40 years to the Aleibiri in December, 2017.
The Governor had broken a 40 year old jinx on Saturday October, 14, 2014 when he drove to Aleibiri and the Neighbour communities in a convoy of SUVs. Dickson had promised during the visit to the ecstatic communities that his administration would ensure that smaller cars are driven comfortably to Aleibiri in December.
The governor said in a statement by his Adviser on Media Relations, Fidelis Soriwei, that the state government had been able to actualize the desire to construct the road to Aleibiri in fulfillment of the governor’s promise.
The over 100-kilometer road awarded to construction giants, Dantata-Sawoe and Setraco, is expected to be completed in December 2018.
The governor had made a promise to the people of the area during his electoral campaign in 2012 that he would construct the Sagbama/Ekeremor Road which was conceived over forty years ago as a Federal project but was abandoned successive administrations.
