LAGOS, Nigeria – It is now 20 years since Nigeria’s top of the range gospel singer, Yinka Ayefele survived an auto crash.
The incident occured in December 12, 1997 along Ibadan –Abeokuta Road. He suffered a spinal chord injury which has confined him to a wheel chair even though he has been able to make the best of the situation.
To mark the day, Yinka Ayefele has outlined elaborate program to mark the 20th anniversary of that incident. Speaking on the significance of the week-long event, Ayefele said he believes the incident, though a sad one, was what transformed his life and he has to reach out to people in order to appreciate God’s magnanimity in his life over the last two decades.
He said he will be remember the day with a sense of gratitude to God. He is holding the weeklong activity in Oyo and Ekiti starting December 12 and climax on December 17.
The event will commence on Tuesday, December 12 in his hometown, Ipoti, Ekiti State, where he will donate a multi-million naira hall to his alma mater, Ipoti High School.
Also on that day, the musician, through his Yinka Ayefele Foundation, will present cash gift to 100 women in Ipoti, before visiting various orphanages, old people’s homes and hospitals, particularly, the University College Hospital, UCH in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, where he will present buses, cash gift and food items to the less privileged in the homes and patients in the hospital.
On Sunday December 17, he will climax the anniversary with a thanksgiving service and launching of the 20th year remembrance album and public presentation of his first book titled “You and Your Spine”. The event will hold at the Music House, Challenge, Ibadan.
