IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – Not less than three people working in Litigation Registry, Lagos High Court have been arrested by the new Chief Justice of Lagos State, Justice Oke Lawal for unlawful self enrichment with state resources.
Those arrested includes two staff and an NYSC member, names withheld serving in the department. Specifically, they were arrested for failing to issue receipts to customers in line with the rule after accepting payment for services rendered to enable them convert the money into personal use.
Speaking on the development, Head of Chambers of the Lagos State Judiciary, Mrs Judith Momodu said a tout who had been in the habit of impersonating officials of the Lagos State Judiciary and defrauding clients was equally arrested.
She said a workshop with theme: Towards an Efficient and Effective Administration of Justice in Lagos State is currently ongoing for staff of the Lagos State Judiciary. The workshop is aimed at sensitizing staff of their role in the “ NEW DAWN” for Lagos State Judiciary.
Recall that Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon Justice Opeyemi Oke in her inaugural speech upon assumption of office as the 16th Chief Judge of Lagos state made it clear that it is a “New Dawn for Lagos State Judiciary”.
” I shall lead by example with zero tolerance for corruption”, she said.
