He urged journalists to work towards making best of their profession and upholding integrity and accountability which are what will make the society good.
Alhaji Jakande, a veteran journalist had in recent past noted that journalism practice in the country has improved over the years.
“Our journalism practice and profession compare favourably with that of any other country in the democratic world.”
He said he would like to be remembered for the free education he introduced during his tenure in Lagos state through which many indigenes and non indigenes got educated and have achieved greatness in life.
Earlier Dr Akinreti explained the visit was a way of seeking the octogenarian’s blessing after assuming office as the Chairman of the NUJ Lagos Council and also felicitating with him especially as his foot print in journalism is visible everywhere.
He said that he and his team had campaigned on integrity and accountability and the decision by the former governor to mention it is divine, promising to keep the flag of integrity flying among his colleagues.
