ZIMBABWE – Former President of Zimbabwe, Mr. Robert Mugabe has said he resigned as a result of his concern for the welfare of the people of Zimbabwe.




“My decision to resign is voluntary on my part and arises from my concern for the welfare of the people of Zimbabwe and my desire to ensure a smooth, peaceful, and non -violent transfer of power that underpins national security, peace and stability”, he said.

Mugabe made the remarks in his letter of resignation to Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Jacob Mudenda.
He said that he resigned after intimating the speaker of his intention to resign.

” I Robert Mugabe in terms of. secrion 96(1) of the constitution of Zimbabwe, hereby formerly tensers my resignation as Preside t of the Republic of Zimbabwe”, he said.
