TEXAS, United States – At least 24 people have been confirmed dead and several others injured in multiple shooting at a church in Texas, United State.
Among those dead are womem and children. The shooting ocurred at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, about 40 miles southeast of San Antonio, police told ABC News affiliate KSAT in San Antonio on Sunday afternoon.
According to FBI, the alleged shooter is dead, and it appears there is no longer an active threat at the First Baptist Church.
An eye witness said the assailant walked into the church around 11:30 a.m. and begin shooting, firing about 20 rounds of ammunition.
So far, most of those injured have been admitted at nearby hospitals. The Connally Memorial Center in nearby Floresville told ABC News it has received six people from the shooting.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement, “The thoughts and prayers of all Texans are with the people of Sutherland Springs as tragic reports come out of First Baptist Church. Please join Angela and me as we pray for those impacted by this horrific shooting,” Paxton said.
Commenting on the incident,President Donald J. Trump said.
“May God be w/ the people of Sutherland Springs, Texas. The FBI & law enforcement are on the scene. I am monitoring the situation from Japan”, he said.
