LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Government today failed in bid to rearraign notorious kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike alias Evans, Joseph Ikenna Emeka, Chiemeka Arinze and Udeme Frank Upong for 11 counts, including murder, kidnapping and possession of fire arms.
They were to be arraigned before a Lagos High Court, sitting in Igbosere, Lagos for murder contrary to section 221 of the Criminal Law C17 Law of Lagos State, for allegedly committing the offence on the 27th of August, 2013.
They were also charged for unlawful possession of firearms, contrary to section, 9(1) of the Robbery and Firearms Special Provision Act, 2004.
The were in addition charged for attempted murder contrary to section 228(1) of the criminal law of Lagos State 2012, conspiracy to commit felony, to wit kidnapping, contrary to section 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
They were also charged for kidnapping one Silvanus Ahanonu and demanded $2 million for his release.
Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo has fixed October 27, 2017 for arraignment following an application by Evans’ counsel Olukoya Ogungbeje seeking to quash all eleven counts charged filed against him by the Lagos State Government.
