IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – Femi Olusanya has been arraigned before a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja for allegedly conniving with three of his friends to rape his girlfriend, a generator maintenance apprentice.

Mother of the girl in question, Iyano Sanni had warned Olusanya to stay away from her daughter, a secondary school student and even reported him to his boss, but the relationship persisted. The IPO, an Assistant Superintendent, Adeyemi Adewale had told the court presided over by Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye that the incident happened on the 30th of May 2013 at Mile 12, Lagos.

“The victim was formerly dating the 1st defendant, but apparently her mother was against the relationship and even reported him to his boss. On the day of the incident, the victim was on her way to school when the 1st defendant called her and persuaded her to follow him to one of his friend’s house in the Mile 12 area.

“She obliged and went with him. When they got there, Olusanya proceeded to push her down and had sex with her without her consent. After he had his turn, the second defendant, Jubril Yusuf, 16 a secondary school dropout also came into the room and also raped her. The third defendant, Wale Oluwanifemi, 15, also raped her.

“The victim however did not report the matter to anyone. A day after the incident she met the fourth defendant, Badejo Wale, 32, accosted her and told her that he knew how she was raped by three of his friends. He thereafter threatened to leak her ‘secret’ unless she allows him to have sex with her..

“He told her to come to an apartment on Dada street also in Mile 12 where he also had carnal knowledge of her. The victim’s parents later got to know about their daughter’s ordeal and the matter was reported to the police, and the alleged culprits were arrested and were taken to the police station where they made ‘confessional’ statements, admitting they committed the crime,” the IPO said. Justice Ipaye thereafter adjourned the matter till November 1 for a trial within trial to determine the authenticity of the defendants statement.
