LAGOS, Nigeria – Nigerian golden lady, Kechi Okwuchi, who lukily survived the Sosoliso Crash on the runway at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos in December 10, 2005 has cruised into finals at the America’s Got Talent talent show.
She emerged as one of the top 10 that will struggle for the grand prize of $1 million.
Her qualification, was confirmed on the official Instagram account of AGT, in a post that read: “Your #DunkinSave votes turned @kechi_agt into a finalist.”
She was one of the students of Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja and was on her way home for the holidays when the planes crashed. Only two of them survived out of the seven rescued.
“I remember just saying I don’t know, but I think we should pray or something, I don’t know. We actually never got a chance. That’s the last memory I have before I blacked out. The next thing I knew, I was waking up in Milpark Hospital, South Africa. To this day I don’t remember the actual impact of the crash.
Kechi has had more than 100 surgeries, including skin grafts in the US as a result of the severe burns which had all over her body. Doctors placed pins to support her hands but this didn’t stop her from reaching for greatness.
Kechi Okwuchi graduated with a First Class degree from University of Thomas Houston, Texas on May 16th, 2015. She majored in economics and was the outstanding student in the department.
At the graduation, She was inducted into 6 academic honor societies. Kechi Okwuchi survived the ill-fated Portharcourt bound flight which crashed on the runway, killing 107 people, including her close friend who was sitting next to her and late Pastor Bimbo Odukoya.
