IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – There are indications that the Nigeria Police Force, NPF will tomorrow Wednesday arraign suspected kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, alias Evans
He will be arraigned before vacation judge, Justice Hakeem Oshodi of a Lagos High Court, police sources have said.
The police will be arraigning him even as it failed to produce him in the N300 million fundamental human right suit he instituted against the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris at the Federal High Court.
The police had through their lawyer objected to the trial for now on the ground that the suspect was helping police investigations towards tracking down his gang members and that it would be dangerous to release Evans prematurely into the society.
But ruling on the matter, Justice Abdulaziz Anka dismissed argument by the police that the case was not ripe for hearing since the Inspector-General of Police and the Nigeria Police Force were served with court papers in Lagos rather than in Abuja.
Evans, according to the police, drives expensive cars from proceed of kidnapping. He also listed names of influential Nigerians he had kidnapped and the money he collected from them.
He has been in police detention for months.
