IKORODU, Lagos, Nigeria – Aliu Adesanyou Street, Olopo- Meji, Odogunyan in Ikorodu was thrown mourning, early Wednesday when the community discovered that an entire family of David Ike has been wiped out overnight by the suspected cult group called Badoo.
David Ike, a native of Igede, Benue state had been laid off from work and was maintaining his family with what he gets from okada.
David, 43 was killed along his wife and three of his children while they were fast asleep.
According to a source in the community, the young man came home on Tuesday night full of life after hard work and went to sleep with his children.
One of the residents of the community, Mr. Michael James who spoke with our correspondent said, the cult group had earlier written to the community through the Baales of their intention to carry out the dastardly act in the area.
This, we gathered prompted the entire community to keep vigil in the last one month waiting for them.
“In the last one month now, the whole people of Odogunyan have been keeping vigil in readiness to the letter written to the community by the group about their intention, and since then nothing has happened. We are surprise that despite the heavy security and vigil by young men of the community these evil people beat the security network .”
Another resident, Mr. Peter Achi said that, the cult group first entered a compound opposite David’s home, but the man was still a wake and resisted them before they left and went to the David apartment and eliminated the entire family of five .
According to him, the evil men normally use stone to attack their victims and when they attempted to attack the first victim, he was still awake and battled with them before they ran away leaving their stones .
He also disclosed the stones have been recovered from the scene of the crime .
A senior sister to David Ike, Mrs. Ruth Ona, who was crying uncontrollably told our reporter that the murderers have destroyed their hope, joy and the entire family by their action and called on government to apprehend the criminals.
“How can somebody killed husband and wife and three children, boys .How did they entre the compound since it is fenced with strong gate, wall and the landlord is living at the front apartment . Please, government should intervene and find out the killers and what really happened in the dastardly killing of my brother and the entire family” she cried.
According to her, there was no place that was broken by the intruder and hardly could any person enter the compound immediately after 10 pm and she asked again, how did they entre the compound?
She said, somebody inside the compound must have opened the gate for the criminals to come, since there was no broken gate or door in the compound.
She said they shattered the wife’s head after raping her and dismembered all body and then removed vital organs.
According to Uche Ude, another resident in the community said that they have been living in fear of the group in the last one month because of the letter written by the cult that they were coming to kill and destroy people in the community.
He said, this group has been terrorizing the Ikorodu town over the years and have been killing people at night after raping their wives and daughters, saying that this group has caused many havoc in the community and this is time government steps in and save the lives of people in the area.
‘Life in the community has become so cheap and we are living in fear in this area. We close our shops and lock our gate immediately it is 9 pm. We also keep vigil, we do not sleep with our two eyes closed every night. Government should come to our help before they wipe out the entire community “he said.
