ABUJA, Nigeria – It was victory song for Okezie Ikpeazu, Governor of Abia State at the Supreme Court on Friday, when the court affirmed that he remains the validly elected governor of the state.
In a unanimous judgement, Justice Walter Onoghen affirmed the August 18 ruling of the Appeal Court which upheld the election of Ikpeazu.
Onnoghen faulted the ruling of the Federal High Court presided over by Justice Okon Abang which nullified the election of Mr. Ikpeazu for tax evasion.
The case was filed by Uche Ogah who accused Ikpeazu of submitting false tax information to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
