LONDON, United Kingdom – An explosion has hit a building at Archer Street, Westminster. The London Metropolitan Police which made the revelation is not yet sure of the nature of explosion.
But in a statement, the Met police said the explosion could either be gas or electricity related.
“Officers are currently at the scene of a gas or electricity explosion in Archer Street, Westminster”, Met police said.
The police said they were called at 17:30hrs on Friday, 3 March to reports of a small explosion at premises in Archer Street, W1.
“Officers and the London Fire Brigade (LFB) are currently at the scene. At this stage there are no reported injures. The explosion has caused some damage to the pavement outside the building. Local road closures are in place while the LFB assess the scene”, the police said, adding that Pedestrians and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
“The incident is not being treated as terrorist related”, the police said.
