LOKOJA, Kogi, Nigeria – The Kogi State Ministry of Transport has crashed bus fares for Kogites and other indigenes travelling from the state to other major cities throughout Nigeria.
The buses which were flagged off to ply various routes in Nigeria on January 2017 are fully Air Conditioned (AC) with professional drivers and modern transport architectonics in line with global best practices and industry standards.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor Yahaya Bello on New Media, Odaudu Joel Minister, said at the pilot stage, ten (10) fleet of rebranded New Direction buses were earmarked for the following routes at a very affordable and cheap rates:
LAGOS: N4,100
IBADAN: 3,500
ILORIN: N2,100
JOS: N2,600
ABUJA: N1,100
KADUNA: N1,800.
The number of buses are expected to increase in the coming months.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Prince Salisu Sani Ogu, stated that the State government was planning to establish the Kogi State Traffic Management Authority (KOTRAMA) to bring orderliness amongst motorists and generate employment for our teeming youths.
While advancing progress report on the plan, he emphasised that the Road Traffic Law has passed First Reading in the State House of Assembly. Ogu expressed optimism that the SURE-P buses would be back on Lokoja Roads in about three weeks time.
“Between now and end of the month, the Confluence City Services which will reduce transportation bottleneck within Lokoja Metro will be flagged off by His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello. The major target are the students and the vulnerable”, stressed.
The Commissioner reiterated the commitment of the New Direction values of the administration of Yahaya Bello, adding that the Ministry of Transport was “repositioning Kogi State as a hub of travel flexibility to other parts of Nigeria.”
