LIBREVILLE, Gabon – West African side, Cameroon on Sunday defeated tournament favourite, Egypt 2-1 to emerge winner of the African Cup of Nations for a record 5th time.
Egypt took the lead in the 22nd minutes through Muhamed Elneny with a beautiful strike which sent the Egyptian bench into wild celebration.
Egypt maintained the lead throughout the first 45 minutes. But Cameroon levelled up through Nicolas Nkoulou in the second half.
The equalizer seemed to be the tonic Cameroon needed and it spurred the side pilling more pressure on the Egyptian side. The pressure paid off through a brilliant strike from Besiktas striker, Vincent Abubakar just two minutes to the end of the game.
