KINSHASA, DRC, President Joseph Kabila of Democratic Republic of Congo has agreed to Step dowm as President after elections are held in 2017.

Kabila’s mandate as President of DRC expires December 19, 2016.




But in a deal brokered by the African Union, a transitional government will be put into place by March next year, with Prime Minister from the opposition party.

“During the time of the transitional government, they will be looking at appointing a prime minister from the opposition. That was vital for the opposition because it needed a bigger stake in the government”‘,, Al Jazeera said.

Part of the deal is that Kabila will not change the constitution. to allow him to run for a third term.
