Governor Asa Hutchinson named Chairman of Arkansas Leadership team

US, Oct 3, 2016 – The Trump Campaign Organisation today announced that Governor Asa Hutchinson will serve as Chairman of the Arkansas Leadership Team.

“The State Leadership Team also includes U.S. Senators John Boozman and Tom Cotton, Congressman Rick Crawford, Congressman French Hill, Congressman Steve Womack, Congressman Bruce Westerman, Lieutenant Governor Tim Griffin, and Attorney General Leslie Rutledge”, the organisation said in a statement.

It also announced Jody Cummins as the State Director for Arkansas.
Speaking on the development, Governor Hutchinson stated, “With all that is at stake for our nation and Arkansas, it is important that we have a strong leadership team for the Trump Campaign. I am delighted to Chair the organizational efforts for the ticket in Arkansas with the support of other state leaders and our federal delegation.”

In 2015, Hutchinson was elected the 46th governor of Arkansas. Hutchinson has represented the people of Arkansas in a number of state and federal positions over the years, including at age 31 being appointed by President Ronald Reagan as the nation’s youngest U.S. Attorney.

He was elected to represent Arkansas’s Third Congressional District three times and served as Director of the Drug Enforcement Administration and as the first Undersecretary of the Department of Homeland Security. He and his wife Susan have been married 43 years and have four children and five grandchildren.

“Mr. Trump is gaining momentum every day across the country and right here in Arkansas,” said Attorney General Rutledge. “Arkansans want a leader who recognizes that the failed policies of the past have hurt American families and workers. We need a leader like Mr. Trump who will grow jobs, rein in out of control federal bureaucrats, return power to the states and nominate conservative justices and judges to the bench who respect the rule of law. I am proud to work with our Governor and other members of this leadership team to ensure that Mr. Trump has a great victory in Arkansas.”

Rutledge has been a member of Mr. Trump’s surrogate operation, making regular television appearances. She also serves as Co-Chair of Mr. Trump’s Agricultural Advisory Committee. Sworn in as the 56th Attorney General in 2015, Rutledge is both the first woman and first Republican in Arkansas history to be elected to the office.

Bud Cummins, a former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, remains Mr. Trump’s State Campaign Chairman, a role he has filled since last February.

“Our leadership team in Arkansas is composed of elected officials who consistently inspire our citizens to work together for better jobs, education and health-care for every citizen. The Trump Campaign’s amazing momentum continues with this announcement of strong state leadership,” said State Director Jody Cummins.
