Pentagon, Oct 4, 2016 – A senior al-Qaeda leader, Abu al-Farai al-Masri well known as Ahmad Salamah Mabruk who had ties with late al-Qaeda Leader, Osama Bin Ladin is feared to have been killed by US air strikes in Syria.

In a statement early this morning, Pentagon Press Secretary, Peter Cook said the terrorist and Egyptian national was targeted when U.S forces conducted an airstrike near Idlib, Syria.

He said that the United States is still accessing that result of the strike, adding that his death, if confirmed would disrupt and degrade coordination among senior a-Qaeda leaders and extremist and that the U.S will continue to target al-Qaeda leaders to disrupt their operations and counter the threat by this terrorist group.

“U.S. forces conducted an airstrike today near Idlib, Syria, targeting Egyptian national Abu al-Farai al-Masri, aka Ahmad Salamah Mabruk, one of Al-Qaeda in Syria’s most senior leaders and a legacy Al-Qaeda terrorist who previously had ties to Osama bin Laden.
“We are still assessing the results of the strike.

“His death, if confirmed, would disrupt and degrade coordination among senior AQ leaders and extremists. The United States military will continue to target Al-Qaeda leaders to disrupt their operations and counter the threat posed by this terrorist group”, the U.S said in the statement.
