SAMSUNG TO CONSUMERS: STOP USING GALAXY NOTE 7

Nigeria, Oct 11, 2016 – Global producer of mobile phones, Samsung today announced that it will no longer produce, sell or exchange one of its latest brand, Galaxy Note 7, following reports of the device exploding in aircraft and in homes of individuals.


In a statement today, Samsung said it is suspending production of the device to safeguard consumers, and that it is working with relevant agencies to investigate incident of explosion of the phone.

“We are working with relevant regulatory bodies to investigate the recently reported cases involving the Galaxy Note7. Because consumers’ safety remains our top priority, Samsung will ask all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 while the investigation is taking place”, Samsung said.

It said it remain committed to working diligently with appropriate regulatory authorities to take all necessary steps to resolve the situation. Samsung called on consumers with the device to stop using it for health reasons.


“Consumers with either an original Galaxy Note7 or replacement Galaxy Note7 device should power down and stop using the device and take advantage of the remedies available”, it said.

Concern for the phone had forced the NCAA to outlaw boarding with the phone in Nigeria.
