TONI BOU WINS 10TH CONSECUTIVE FIM TRIAL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE

Toni Bou won the 2016 FIM Trial World Championship




Tokyo, Japan, Sept 5, 2016 – Honda Racing Corporation(HRC) contract rider, Toni Bou has won the 2016 FIM Trial World Championship (WCT). With the win, he clinched his 10th consecutive title by winning the race on the first day, September 3. Therefore, he closed the season with another win on the next day.

Bou races for Honda’s factory team, Repsol Honda Team. This is Bou’s 10th consecutive win in the Trial World Championship since he won the first title in 2007 with Montesa COTA 4RT, HRC factory machine. He also won X trial world Championship, indoor competitions held in the sections built artificially for the 10th consecutive years.

Bou was in a difficult situation this season because of imperfect condition due to being injured just before the first round. However, in the Spanish Grand Prix, he got second place on the first day and won the race on the second day. Thereafter, he showed overwhelming strength to win 12 races.

Speaking after the event, Toni Bou said today is a really special day. “When you win a championship it is something great. It has been a very special season, with some back problems at the beginning of the year. I was able to keep gradually improving until it was almost my best season. I wish to thank all of those who have helped me to achieve it; the entire team, my family and friends.

This is a really special moment and I couldn’t dream of anything better. Now I’m going to think about the trial, next season and how I can improve things. Thank you very much for all support to us.”


President Honda Racing Corporation, Yoshishige Nomura thanked Toni, Team staff, all the sponsor and Trial fans all over the world.
“To be the 10th consecutive Champion in the competition with strong rivals, he must be in a different special dimension. I will share joys of this feat with a lot of people. HRC will continue conducting racing activities in a way that will bring fun and excitement to motorsports fans.”
