BROTHERS JAILED FOR ROBBERY, STABBING 79 YEAR OLD MAN IN HIS GARAGE

London, Sept 25, 2016 – Two men, Bobby Baker and Darren Dean Baker from Thornton Heath have been jailed for stabbing and robbing an elderly man who was washing his car in his garage.

Bobby Baker, 27 and Darren Dean Baker, 21 both of Norbury Avenue, Thornton Heath, were found guilty of robbery at Croydon Crown Court on Friday 16 September. They were sentenced on the same day at the same court. Bobby Baker was jailed for six years while Darren Dean Baker was imprisoned for five years.

“At about 09:50hrs on 16 September 2015, the victim, a 79-year-old man, was washing his car in his driveway in Thornton Heath when he was approached by three men.

The men, one of whom was armed with a knife, entered the driveway and attacked the victim, punching him and knocking him to the floor. He also suffered stab injuries to his hand”, MET Police said in a statement. According to the police, the victim was robbed of his phone, wallet and watch before the three men fled on foot towards Green Lane. London Ambulance Service were called to the scene and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

Detective Constable Emma Crowley, from Croydon CID described the development as a despicable crime against an elderly victim who was just going about his usual business at his home address.

“I am happy all three men involved in the robbery have now been brought to justice.
“I hope that these convictions and sentences act as a deterrent to others and shows that we will relentlessly pursue those who commit robbery, arrest them and put them before the courts to answer for their crimes.”
